Furrell Edgar Harry Grauer Sr. a lifelong Waukesha resident died peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center at the age of 86. He was born in Waukesha on November 9, 1930 the son of Harry and Gertrude Grauer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war and was held as a prisoner of war for 18 months. On October 23, 1953, he married Betty Ann Wolf in Dubuque, IA; she preceded him in death on March 6, 2013. Furrell worked for many years in the warehouse at Roundy’s. He loved hunting and camping and going up north to his camper in Coloma, WI. Most of all he loved his family dearly and was the rock that held them together.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Furrell Grauer Jr. of Watertown, Denise Grauer of Watertown, Debra Grauer of Waukesha and Dawn (Gene) Lamprecht of Waukesha, his five grandchildren, David Grauer, Ann Lamprecht, Richard Lamprecht, Daniele Grauer and Shyanne Lydon and 11 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters Phyllis “Phitty” Bittner and Nancy “Nan” “Phat” Lovald along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Betty and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wayne and sister Tootsie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
