G. Gerald “Gerry” Hoggatt of Waukesha, formerly of Sheboygan, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at LindenGrove at the age of 78. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Lead, South Dakota, the son of George and Anna (nee Wright) Hoggatt. After graduating from Black Hills Teachers College in South Dakota, Gerry proudly served his county in the U.S. Army for two years. On June 14, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jean Tomasetti, and together they resided in Sheboygan for over 46 years. He was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Sheboygan where he especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was employed at Vinyl Plastics in Sheboygan for 34 years until retirement. As a member of the U.A.W. Union, he held the position of recording secretary for many years. He was also very active in Scouting, acting as a Webelos leader for almost 40 years. Gerry was a faithful blood donor and helped with the set up of the Mobile Blood Drives. He was involved with Civic Music that brought musical performances to the Sheboygan area, and was also a member of the Sheboygan Astronomical Society. Along with his wife, Gerry always enjoyed dancing and walking. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, reading and dancing with them. He had the special ability to make friends where ever he went. Gerry will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Jean of Waukesha; his sons: Scott (Judy) Hoggatt of Brookfield and Ross (Jenn) Hoggatt of Waukesha; grandchildren: Joanna, Gabriella, Michael, Joshua, Luke, Matthew, and Sophia; sister, Betty Dyke and brother, Ralph Hoggatt, both of South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Mangold and brother, John Hoggatt, and his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 noon memorial service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.
