Gailen K. Greseth, 87, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Dawson, MN to Olga and Elmer Greseth on September 25, 1929. Upon graduation from high school he joined the US Air Force, where he proudly served for four years. Gailen attended the Minnesota School of Business and was employed by GMAC for 35 years. He was an accountant and accounting manager in Eau Claire, WI, Huron, SD, Duluth, MN and three offices in the Chicago area. Gailen spent the last 20 years of his career as the accounting manager in the Milwaukee office. He retired in 1990, and moved to Lake Arrowhead, WI where he and Arlene spent summers and to The Villages, FL where they spent their winters. Gailen was an avid bowler, golfer and bridge player. He loved to sing and sang in church choirs until he lost his sight and couldn't read the music. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, best friend and boat driver for water skiers and tubers.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 65 years, Arlene. He also leaves sons Gary (Jane) and David (Kathy) Greseth and daughter Lori (Joe) Knueppel. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one great - great grandchild, his sister Karen Erickson, his brother Orlyn Greseth, two sisters-in-law Dolores Anderson and Betty Greseth and numerous nieces and nephews. Gailen was predeceased by his parents, sister Elaine and brother Eugene.
A celebration of Gailen's life will be held on July 29th, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St. in Waukesha, WI with visitation at 10:00 AM and services at 11:00 AM.
