Gary E. Witkowski, a longtime Waukesha resident, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 68. He was born in La Crosse, WI on September 26, 1947 the son of Chester and Rosella (nee Byrne) Witkowski. He was a 1965 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. Gary worked doing grounds and maintenance at Catholic Memorial High School for almost 40 years, never missing a day of work. He was a big sports fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He coached junior high and freshman football for many years. Gary enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball, and in recent years loved watching his grandsons thrive in hockey. He loved dogs and is survived by his lab, Macy. Gary was also an avid gardener. He will always be remembered as a simple, kind and generous man who was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Michelle (Jeff) Novak of Sussex and Jeff Witkowski of Waukesha, his three grandchildren, Luke, Isaac and Abigail Novak, his brother David Witkowski of Aptos, CA and his sister Katy (Dennis) Pfaff of New Berlin. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Tim (Diane) Niebuhr, Rory (Karon) Niebuhr, Chris (Sherry) Niebuhr, Brian (Lisa) Pfaff and Sherry (Ken) Alburg along with many great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rita Niebuhr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 12:30 p.m. memorial service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A reception and continued celebration of Gary’s life will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Elmbrook Humane Society, 20950 Enterprise Avenue, Brookfield, WI 53045.
