He was a graduate of the University of Houston and received a degree in engineering. He was a Project manager for Con Diesel until his retirement in 1993. He was a dedicated and respected employee receiving many accolades for his work. George loved the simple things in life. He loved being home, and he and his wife Betty did everything together. They were soul mates. He was the original Mr. Fix it and he was happiest puttering in his workshop or tending to his lawn and garden. He was a life long model train enthusiast and spent many hours creating elaborate layouts in the area beyond his workshop. He was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the library to collect information for his next project. He loved history and science and was a wealth of information to his family. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 17 years, Betty Haideman-Wax of Waukesha, His loving children, son Keith (Julie) Wax of Bethel , Connecticut, his daughter Karyn (Frank) Clesse of Orchard Park, New York and his step daughter Sue (Randy) Pallister and his step son Mark of Waukesha. He was the proud grandfather of Katherine, Sarah, Steven, Megan, Gregory, and Caroline Wax, Laura and Jennifer Clesse, and Daniel, Stephanie, and Michael Pallister. He was a great listener and loved to tell of their accomplishments. Distance separated him from his children, but they were forever in his heart and he was extremely proud of them. He is further survived by his sister Peggy (Dick) Hummel of New Canan, Connecticut as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Phyllis Wax and his first wife Aurelie.
