George A. Hermanson of Waukesha passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 just 6 days before his 90th birthday. He was born in Ahmeek, Michigan on February 16, 1928 the son of Jacob and Elma (nee Isaacson) Hermanson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On September 1, 1951, he married Eleanor Jankowski at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Milwaukee; she preceded him in death on January 19, 2012. George worked for Motor Transport Company for many years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 200 from 1951 until 1985. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and was known as the family mechanic. George was a hard-worker and could always be found helping someone. He had a positive impact on the life of everyone he met and was an absolute joy to be around.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Susan (David) Smith of Waukesha and Jacob (Debbie) Hermanson of West Allis, his grandchildren, Michelle (Chad) Steckl of Waukesha, David (Amanda) Smith of Red Wing, MN and Shawn (Amanda Goodman) Teske of Milwaukee and great-grandchildren Ian and Morgan Steckl, Madelyn and Everett Smith, Makayla and Braden Goodman and baby Smith, who is on the way. He is further survived by his brother William (Lila) Hermanson of Michigan along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on George’s 90th birthday, Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Graveside services with full military honors will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 12:00 noon at Prairie Home Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery office. Memorials in George’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
