George Criston Widule of Elm Grove, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. He was born on February 24, 1922 in Milwaukee, the son of George and Elsa (nee Schubert) Widule. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, in Guam, Guadalcanal, and Bougainville during WWII. George had a lifetime association with the Boy Scouts and Troop 76. The members and their spouses continue to gather socially to the present day. Much of his Boy Scout training aided him in battle situations during WWII. He was an accomplished musician and was a member of the Musicians Union Local #8 since the 1930’s and was the leader of “The George Criston Orchestra” aboard the cruise ship Milwaukee Clipper for 15 years. He was involved in real estate for over 50 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife Marianne of Elm Grove; daughter Mary (Leslie) Morris of Waukesha; sons: John Criston (Sharon) Widule of Brookfield and George Criston Widule, Jr. of Vancouver, BC; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Louis. Private burial with full military honors will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
