Georgia Recknagel

Georgia Ann Recknagel (nee Halverson), of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 85. Georgia was born on January 3, 1927 in Stoughton, WI, the daughter of George and Carrie (nee Nasett) Halverson and became a resident of Waukesha in 1953. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 49 years where she was active in the East Side Circle, OWLS, the Grace Sewing Group as well as other groups and committees. Georgia was a longtime member of the Waukesha Service Club and Merrill Hills Country Club. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Georgia is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gene, of Waukesha, their children, Connie (Andrew) Smith of Waukesha, David (Peggy Laz) Recknagel of Waukesha, and Gail (Tim) Michnay of Lake Geneva, her grandchildren, Erin (Erik) Syrjanen, Michael Smith, Christopher Michnay, Bethany (John) Mueller, Andrew Michnay, Katy (Fiance Chad Cowdy) Recknagel, Callie Recknagel, her niece Teri (Michael) Zander, nephew Thomas (Linda) Halverson, great- niece and nephews BJ, Ben & George Halverson and Kyle, Ryan & Kaitlyn Zander. Further survived by other relatives and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Loraine Halverson and brother and sister-in-law Burns and Marian Halverson.  A warm thank you to the Doctors and caregivers who provided Georgia with care and comfort. Your compassion is greatly appreciated. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 4:00 until 7:00PM at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. Visitation continues on Saturday, July 21 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Pastor Arthur Koepsell will preside. A private family burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery. If desired, memorials are appreciated to Grace Ev.
