Gertrude Schmidt

May 5, 1918 — June 15, 2008

Gertrude L. Schmidt, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully to eternal life on Sunday, June 15, 2008, after a short illness, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 90.  A good and gentle woman, Gert was born on May 5, 1918 in Mukwonago, to the late Louis and Ester (nee:  Ely) Andofer.  After graduating from Mukwonago High School in 1935 she attended Whitewater State Teacher’s College.  On August 31, 1940 Gert married Frederick N. Schmidt.  Throughout their marriage they worked side by side and together established F.N. Schmidt & Associates, Inc., a manufacturing representative business that continues today.  She leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, Frederick N. of Waukesha, daughter Kay (Bill) Davies of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and five sons:  Dr. Tom (Linda) Schmidt of Brookfield, Fred (Teresa) Schmidt of De Pere, John (Carol) Schmidt of Mukwonago, Bill (Bette) Schmidt of Waukesha and Dr. Joe (Julie) Schmidt of Dousman.  She will be remembered forever by her grandchildren, Laura (Rob) Anderson, Matt and Mike Davies of Minneapolis, MN; Alison Schmidt, Kerala, India and Amy (Erik) Rosenburg, Tolleson, AZ; Beth, Todd and Reed Schmidt of De Pere; Diana and Drew Schmidt of Mukwonago; Derek and Paige Schmidt of Waukesha and Nic and Angela Schmidt of Dousman.  Gert was thrilled to be a great grandmother to Lindsey and Will Anderson.  She will also be fondly remembered by special family friends Paul & Kathy Erdmann and Bruce & Carol Erdmann.  She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Leslie and Rachel Schmidt.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  A second visitation will take place on Thursday, June 19 from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM funeral mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha with Fr. James Loehr presiding.  Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Boy Scouts of America Potawatomi Area Council, P.O.
