Gladys Matysik

August 19, 1918 — February 22, 2009

Gladys M. (Watson) Matysik, of Delafield, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the age of 90.  She was born on August 19, 1918 in Jackson County, WI, the daughter of Charles and Lavina Watson, and had 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  She married Edward Matysik on November 6, 1935.  He preceded her in death on September 21, 2002 after 67 years of marriage.  To this union there were 3 children: Janice (Neil, preceded in death) Krause of Waukesha, Patricia Wolf of Lake Geneva, WI, and James (Marilyn) Matysik of Chaseburg, WI.  She was the much loved grandmother to Rick, Cynthia, Jeffrey, Tracey and Todd; great-grandmother to Richie, Kristina, Kimberly, Zachary, Allie and Carie; and great-great-grandmother to Ryan, Evan, Ashley, and Aarin.   Gladys grew up and farmed with her husband in the Fairchild, WI area until 1974.  She was also employed as a certified nursing assistant for over 30 years, which included working at Sunset Nursing Home in Fairchild for 15 years, Osseo Nursing Home and Hospital for 6 years, and Northview Nursing Home and Hospital for 10 years. They moved to Delafield where she retired from nursing in 1987. She enjoyed needlework, reading, and traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed family get-togethers.  Gladys will be sadly missed.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 10:00 AM until the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hwy 83 and D, Genesee Depot.  Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Wales.  For further information, please call Randle-Dable Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services at (262) 547-4035, or go to www.waukeshafunerals.com to leave an on-line tribute.
