Glen D. Ehlke a lifelong Waukesha resident passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at AngelsGrace Hospice surrounded by his daughters at the age of 86. He was born in Waukesha on March 28, 1931 the son of Oscar and Minona (nee Genrich) Ehlke. Glen was a 1949 graduate of Waukesha High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Business Administration from Spencian College of Business. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as an acting sergeant. On June 4, 1955 he married June B. Rohde at Wauwatosa Ev. United Brethren Church; she preceded him in death on June 17, 2014. Glen worked for GTE Automatic Electric for many years as the cost standard supervisor. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ where he served as a lifelong Deacon and was a member of the American Legion DJ Martin Post #8.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Lynn (Thomas) Sindic, Julie (Erwin) Bessler Jr. and Tracey (Long) Tran, his grandchildren, Eric Sindic, Heather (Kevin) Sather, Kaity Bessler, Brad Bessler, Alex Tran, Emily Tran and Lora Tran and great-grandchildren, Luke, Hayden and Noelle Sather. He is further survived by his brother Wesley Ehlke along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife June and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward Ehlke and sisters Shirley Pollatz and Audrey Scheel.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery. A luncheon and time for fellowship will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Evangelical & Reformed UCC, 413 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Evangelical & Reformed UCC.
