Glen R. Roth of Waukesha passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born in Fullerton, PA on November 23, 1941, the son of Charles and Stella (Bower) Roth. Glen proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the cruiser USS Roosevelt.
It was through his basic training in the Navy that brought him to Wisconsin where he met the love of his life, Rosalie Engel. On June 1, 1963 Glen married Rosalie, his partner for 61 years. They shared their love with three children; Heleene, Charlotte and Christopher. Glen and Rosalie also opened their home to several foster babies and children in the 1970’s.
Besides his family, Glen loved to work. He was the “go to guy” in the neighborhood who could fix almost anything except popped balloons. He approached mechanical problems with a unique mixture of curiosity, practicality and an engineer’s understanding that allowed him to crack just about any tough nut. He dedicated 4 decades of his life working as a machinist at Engel Tool and Forge and another 15 years at Quant Corp.
While living in Greenfield, Glen enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan with his family and made friends through his membership in the Great Lakes Sports Fishermen. This led to memorable camping and boating trips in WI and along the Mississippi River. His amiable personality also led to an interest in CB and ham radio where he met several “good buddies” and was active in the Milwaukee Repeaters Club and the Milwaukee Area Amateur Radio Society. After moving to their hobby farm in Waukesha, Glen quickly became a gentleman farmer who exceled in restoring, maintaining and running vintage farm machinery; both his and neighbors’. His restoration experience later expanded to ’47 Chevys (his first car as a teenager) and membership in the West Allis Auto Club.
Glen was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He was kind, honest, fair and helpful with family, friends and strangers alike. Unassuming, curious, humorous and above all, loving.
While his love continues to provide comfort to his family, Glen’s presence will be deeply missed by his wife of over 60 years, Rosalie; children: Heleene (William) Green, Charlotte (James Rasmussen) Roth and Christopher (Nancy) Roth; grandchildren: Nathanael (Alex Reed) Green, Samantha (Brandon) Basterash, Sarah Green and Anya Rasmussen; great grandchildren: Ayden and Avyanna Green.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Stella and his brother Bernard (Charles Bernard) Roth
