Gordon E. Carlson a lifetime resident of town of Genesee was taken to eternal life peacefully at LindenGrove in Waukesha on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born in Waukesha on November 24, 1930 the son of Edward and Lucy (nee Stein) Carlson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 24, 1953 he married Therese Savatski; she preceded him in death on May 2, 2012. Gordon was a Genesee Town Supervisor for 34 years, serving from 1967 until 1971 and again from 1978 until 2008. He was an excellent carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters & Floor Covers Union Local 344 from 1954 until 2004. He was also a proud member of the Bralick-Miller VFW Post 5270 in Genesee Depot and longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Upon retirement, Gordon and Therese enjoyed traveling to their home in the warm Arizona sunshine for the winter months. They would return back to Wisconsin for the summer months to enjoy watching their grandchildren swim at their pool.
Gordon is survived by his beloved children: Ken Carlson of Oconomowoc, Doreen (Bill) Ellsworth of North Prairie, Deb Gehrke of Dousman, Robert (Pat) Carlson of South Dakota, Richard (Lynn) Carlson of East Troy, Catherine (Pete) Sherman of Tripoli and Sharon (Mark) Schultz of Genesee Depot, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Therese, he was preceded in death by his sister Harriet Berglund.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Randle-Dable Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (corner of Hwy D and Hwy 83 in Genesee Depot) Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials in Gordon’s name are appreciated to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or VFW Post 5270 in Genesee.
