Guadalupe Barreto

Guadalupe “Lupe” Garcia Barreto, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, September 01, 2012 at the Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 83. She was born in Waukesha on February 17, 1929 the daughter of the late Lupi and Rafaela (nee Hernandez) Garcia. She was a 1947 graduate of Waukesha High School and then attended Cincinnati University and UW-Waukesha. On June 30, 1947 she married Yacinto Barreto in Waukegan, IL and again at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha on May 17, 1958. Lupe started a lifelong career in civil service in 1948 and retired in 1994 from the Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, IL. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, of La Casa de Esperanza and of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). She will be sadly missed by her husband Yacinto of Waukesha and their children: Peter (Mary) Barreto of Kenosha, Michelle “Jackie” Barreto of Waukesha and Rafaela “Lita” Barreto of Waukesha. Dear grandmother of Molly Barreto of Kenosha, Peter Ross Barreto of Kenosha, Rozanna (Terry) Hansen of Waukesha, Jesse, Joseph and Veronica Vega all of Waukesha and Myles Barreto of Waukesha and great-grandmother of Marshall Vega, Melanie and Marcus Hansen and Lauren Barreto. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters: Stanley (Ophelia) Mindiola of Waukesha, John (Bonnie) Mindiola of Waukesha, Julie (James) Cervantes of West Allis, Anthony Lopez of Waukesha, Matias (Mary) Lopez of Waukesha and John (Unmi) Lopez of Atlanta, GA, her sister-in-law Sandy Mindiola of Las Vegas, NV along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Tony Mindiola and her sister Ysidra Garcia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 4:00 until the 7:00PM funeral service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Entombment will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9:00AM at St. Joseph Cemetery.
