Gustavo “Gus” G. Chavez Jr. of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 69. He was born in Waukesha on June 15, 1949 the son of Gustavo and Cruz (nee Garcia) Chavez Sr. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army from January 1967 until his honorable discharge in December of 1969. He retired from the Ethan Allen Boys School where he worked as a counselor for many years. Gus loved music, dancing, playing pool and enjoyed horror movies. Most of all he cherished his family and will always be remembered as a beloved father, adored grandfather, awesome brother, and loving uncle.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Angela (Greg) Chavez-Opper, Monique Johnson and Deanna (Jessie) Martinez, his brothers and sisters, Tina (Andy) Bowden, Rosie (the late Julio) Guel, Julio (Norma) Chavez and John (Debbie) Chavez, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, special friends Leonard Vasquez and John Vissers, other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial with full military honors will take place on Thursday, January 31st at 1:00 p.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182. Please meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
