Hans J. Rothkegel

Hans J. Rothkegel, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Seasons Hospice surrounded by his family at the age of 90 years. He was born in Bremen, Germany on December 24, 1922 the son of Joseph and Theresa (nee Arndt) Rothkegel. Hans was a German Soldier during WWII and served in France, Russia and Africa. On July 15, 1948 he married Anneliese Hunold and in 1953 they moved to the United States, a move he never regretted. Hans worked in the mercantile and accounting field and then at Wisconsin Centrifugal as an inspection supervisor until his retirement in 1983. He was an avid craftsman who could make just about anything and he loved nature, animals and reading. Hans especially enjoyed classical and Big Band music and played many instruments and while in Germany he played in a Big Band. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 64 years, Anneliese of Waukesha, his daughters: Rita (Daniel) Vosburg of Waukesha and Heidi (Rex) Nienow of Westfield, his grandchildren: Kristie and Andrew Vosburg both of Waukesha, Rex, Jr. (Teresa) Nienow of Watertown and Cory Nienow of Portage and one great-grandchild, Lexi Nienow. Hans is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Carla Huebner in 2002 and by his brother and sister.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 4:00 until the 7:00PM funeral Mass at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Mass will be concelebrated by Reverend Kevin Barnekow and Reverend Leonard Barbian. A private family entombment will be held on Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery.
