Harlan P. Marshek, of Waukesha, died on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 94. He was born on March 11, 1917 in Jackson, WI, the son of Peter and Clara (nee Peil) Marshek. Harlan was a 1933 graduate of Waukesha High School and then proudly served in the US Army Air Corps. Harlan and his father operated Pete’s Garage in Waukesha for many years. After the garage was closed he worked as a mechanic for UPS until his retirement at age 62. Harlan enjoyed playing tennis and was once the Waukesha City tennis champion. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Harlan will be sadly missed by his son-in-law David Grampovnik of Waukegan, IL and his two granddaughters: Beth and Sarah Grampovnik of Waukegan, IL. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death his wife Florence (Koehler), his daughter Kathy Grampovnik, his sister Mildred and his parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 5:00 until the 7:00PM funeral Mass all at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Arthritis Foundation, 1650 S. 108th Street, West Allis, WI 53214-4021.
