Harold E. Schirmacher, of Muskego, died on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Milwaukee, the son of Walter and Iva (nee Tompkins) Schirmacher. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On July 29, 1950 he married Joyce Pountain. For many years he had been a stonecutter at Halquist Quarry in Sussex. He was also the first manager at McMiller Rifle Range in Eagle and after retirement he was a groundskeeper at Wanaki Park in Menomonee Falls. Harold was a member of the Wisconsin House Outdoorsman Club and loved the outdoors, hunting, and would hold clinics for kids on fishing and especially enjoyed doing things for kids. He will be sadly missed by his wife Joyce of Muskego, along with their children Kenneth (Peggy) Schirmacher of Hartford and Linda Finn and former son-in-law William Finn of Waukesha, his grandchildren: Dawn Schirmacher of Green Bay, Kara (Pat) Sullivan of Jackson and Jason (Jenny) Finn of Waukesha; great grandchildren: Keegan and Aidan Sullivan and Jackson Finn. He is further survived by his brother Ralph (Deanna) Schirmacher of Waukesha; sister Barbara Schirmacher of Hartland; sister-in-law Ann Schirmacher, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert (Doris) Schirmacher, Richard Schirmacher, and his sister Janet (Keith) Aldrich. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 11:00AM until 12:00 Noon at the Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel, 605 S. Prairie Avenue followed by a memorial service at 12:00 Noon in the chapel. Inurnment with Full Military Honors will follow.
