Hazel “Honey” Danner, of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 surrounded by her family at Merrill Hills Manor at the age of 94. She was born in Elgin, IL on June 4, 1920 the daughter of Marcus and Edna (nee Hannah) Damisch. On August 25, 1939 she eloped to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she married George W. Danner; he preceded her in death on February 17, 2004. Hazel was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English. Hazel was a longtime member of the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Board of Directors where she has a boardroom named after her. She was also a board member for the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation, a longtime member of the Waukesha Service Club and a member of the Senior League. Hazel was a founding member of Electronic Tele-Communications Inc. in Waukesha along with her husband George and their son Dean and his wife Boni. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was part of the Christian Mothers and was a current member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Hazel was a world traveler, enjoyed playing sheepshead, gardening, was an excellent painter and loved Halloween where she was often referred to as “Hazel Witch”. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family and will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Honey will be sadly missed by her children, George M. (Nancy) Danner of Wausaukee, Cynthia K (Ernie) Carlson of Chico, CA, David L. (Pamela) Danner of McLean, VA, Dean W. (Boni) Danner of Waukesha and Lynne E. (David) Erbs of Edgerton. She was the beloved grandmother of her 35 grandchildren and spouses and their children. She is further survived by her brothers John and Richard Damisch, her sister-in-law Nancy Damisch, her brother-in-law Bob (Nan) Danner along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband George, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Damisch and her sister Dorothy Ryniker.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 9:00AM until the time of the Eulogy at 10:50AM followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00AM all to be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Highway 59, Waukesha, WI 53189. The Reverend Curt Frederick will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Waukesha Memorial Foundation, 725 American Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53188 or to the Boy Scouts of America Potawatomi Council, 804 Bluemound Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
