Helen E. Kabitzke, of New Berlin, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Applewood Assisted Living Facility at the age of 92. She was born in La Porte, IN, on September 23, 1923 to Andrew and Mary (nee Kubiak) Mudryk. She was a 1942 graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN. On February 16, 1946 she married Donald J. Kabitzke in Milwaukee. She had worked as a secretary at U.S. Steel, Harnischfager and Gimbels Dept. Store. She was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Delafield and did a lot of volunteer work for the church. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Milwaukee, was a boy-scout leader for her son’s troop and continued helping for many years. She loved to help disadvantaged children.
She will be sadly missed by her children Barbara (John) Margowski of Muskego and Donald (Mary) Kabitzke of Delafield. Dear grandmother of Nicole (Fiancee Chris Janchan) Kiemen of New Berlin, Ryan (Brenda Wandschneider) Kabitzke of Wales, Kristin (Jason) Burr of Greenfield, Justin Kabitzke of Milwaukee, Megan (Steve) Jackson of Greenfield and Dana Kabitzke of Delafield, Michael (Jessica) Margowski of Chicago. Beloved great-grandmother of Abby, Jackson and Spencer Janchan, Zachary, Tyler and Cara Burr and Cooper Jackson. She is further survived by her sister Catherine Surowiec of Valparaiso, IN, sisters-in-law Evelyn Seier, Mary Mudryk and Jeri Kabitzke, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2001, sisters Rose Baumgardt, Anne Liedtke and Irene Mudryk and brothers Todd, John, Frank and Joseph Mudryk.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI 53005. Graveside services will follow.
