Helen Mae Lind, of Waukesha, went home on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family at the age of 89 years. She was born on June 11, 1924 the daughter of Harold and Ardelle (nee Gunville) Sloan in Escanaba, MI where she was proud of her upper Michigan roots. She was a charter member of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. Helen loved beagles, owning five during her lifetime. She enjoyed bowling but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her children, William R. (Linda) Lind of Mukwonago, the late James H. (Chris J. Coleman) Lind, and Susan M. (Mike) Finley of Waukesha. Dear grandmother of Karina (Brian) Derenne, Sarah (fiancé Abel Lazcano) Lind, Angela (Ryan) Broich, William K. “Kyle” Lind, Shalon (special friend Brian Cox) Kohl, Laura (Noel) Calderon, Michael Finley and Kristen (Brian) Haessly and great-grandmother of Alexis Kennedy, Kyara Lazcano, Ethan and Calista Broich, Linnea Lind, Abbey and Eleanor Kohl and Zamielle Calderon. She is further survived by her sisters, Theresa LeClaire and Faye Campbell along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William Emil Lind, by her son James Lind, her brother Robert Sloan and her sisters Mary Willis and Ruth Shurilla.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 3:00PM until the time of the 4:00PM funeral service at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2016 Center Road, Waukesha, WI 53189. Pastor Jay McDivitt will preside. Memorials in Helen’s name are appreciated to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
