Helen M Smith

Helen M. Smith of Waukesha died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born on July 30, 1924 the daughter of Francis and Helen (nee: Fitzsimons) Caldwell. She attended St. Michael’s Grade School, graduated from Holy Angels Academy High School and earned her teaching degree from Marquette University. Helen was a Catholic school teacher and taught at St. Mary’s in Waukesha and St. Mary’s in Pewaukee. She was a member of the Waukesha Service Club and enjoyed playing bridge with the St. Mary Bridge Club.

She is survived by her son James R. Smith of Waukesha and her daughter Jane Schomer of Waukesha, her grandchildren, Tracie (Brian) Zimmer, Collen (Michael) Reinelt, Bryan Schomer, Sara (Aaron) Hoffer and Amy (Peter) Kaczmarek and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler, Brittney, Noah, Emilie, Jacob, Benjamin, Elijah, Isiah, Silas, Mary Elizabeth, Josiah, Isaac and Jacob. She is further survived by her brothers, Father Thomas Caldwell, SJ and Joseph Caldwell along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Smith in 2002 and her daughter Kathleen Smith in 2014.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until time of the 2:00 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Graveside will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 10 AM (please meet at the cemetery).
