Helene J. Kutchera, formerly of New Berlin, died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Lake Country Health Services in Oconomowoc at the age of 92. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 4, 1931 the daughter of Charles and Helen (nee Mead) Slattery. On November 12, 1949 she married Leonard Kutchera and they shared just shy of 75 wonderful years together. As a young woman, Helene was a proud mother and wife. She ran her household efficiently while tending to the family. She took much pride in home-cooking, baking, and caring for loved ones. Helene was dependable and hardworking, a natural fit for the food business. Working with her family side by side meant the world to her. Leonard was always close by, washing dishes and singing a tune. Helene was known for her famous carrot cake and never shied away from telling you to add salt! She had a feisty personality, was quick on her feet, and ran circles around those years younger than her. We all knew what to expect at her home...great food and quality time. Her beloved bible was always out and ready to read. Leonard and Helene read a passage every morning together and said grace with every meal. They spent time in their retirement years traveling the country, always managing to find a Cracker Barrel along the way. In Helene's later years she kept up with her great grandkids, providing consistent love and care. She truly demonstrated strength, courage and faith in God throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Leonard of Oconomowoc and their children Len (Karen) Kutchera of Mequon, Maureen Janowski of Waukesha and Cindy (Tim) Miles of Dousman. She is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, daughter-in-law Susan Kutchera and son-in-law Ronald Janowski.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM Memorial Service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Waukesha.
