Howard Frederick William Mielke, of Waukesha, died on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. He was born on August 15, 1913 the son of William and Ella (nee Doss) Mielke. Howard enjoyed playing baseball in his youth. On October 18, 1941 he married Virginia (nee Roberts ) Mielke. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2002. Howard ran his own dairy farm on Guthrie Road until 1963, and he lived on the farm that had been in the family for 100 years. He then went on to work at Grede Foundry in the core room until his retirement in 1978. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Waukesha Fire Department. Howard was a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. He is survived by his daughter, Trudy (Dan) Staffeldt of Waukesha and his son Thomas Mielke of Kenosha, his grandchildren; Ben Staffeldt, Annie Staffeldt (Derek DiPietro), and Caleb Staffeldt. He is further survived by his special friends Blanche Anderson and Karl and Dorothy Berger, along with nieces, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Virginia, he is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ethel O'Brien, and brother Elmer Mielke. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. Services continue on Wednesday, March 19 with visitation from 10:00AM until 10:30AM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Avenue, Waukesha. A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM at the church. Graveside services will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (address above).
