Howard J. Wurst, of Waukesha, died peacefully on June 9, 2009 at AngelsGrace Hospice. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 9, 1922 to Howard J. and Anna S. Wurst. Howard served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. As a waist gunner in the B-26 Martin Marauder, he flew 26 missions earning the air medal. He retired from the Waukesha Police Department in 1977 as a detective. Howard is survived by his loving wife Irene, daughters Virgie (John) Christopherson and Vickie, grandchildren Laurie (fiancée Keith Steward) and Steven (Katie) Christopherson. He is further survived by his faithful friend, Spunky and granddogs Grayse, Boop and Tasha. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at AngelsGrace for their outstanding care and compassion given to Howard. A private family gathering will be held.
