WAUKESHA - Isla J. Richter (nee Huennekens) 89, passed away on January 3, 2020, at Heritage Court in Pewaukee. She was born in Milwaukee on August 24, 1930 to Arthur and Melva (nee West) Huennekens. She was a 1948 graduate of St Mary’s Academy in St. Francis, WI. On September 6, 1952 she married Al Richter in St. Francis, WI. She was a longtime member of Waukesha Service Club and a faithful volunteer at the Waukesha Memorial Hospital gift shop as well as many other organizations. Isla and Al enjoyed golfing for many years as members of Merrill Hills Country Club. They enjoyed summers at their cottage on Blue Springs Lake, as well as winters in Boca Grande, Florida. Isla loved cooking, being at the beach, water, reading, tennis, skiing, sewing and attending the theatre, but her greatest joy was caring for her husband, Al and the rest of her family.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Al, of Waukesha, their six children, Michael (Elizabeth) Richter of Milwaukee, Nancy Richter of Sedona, AZ, Jeffrey (Rosalie) Richter of Mercer, Susan (David) Richter-O’Connell of Sheboygan, Lisa (Ross) Easton of Wauwatosa, and Craig (Barb) Richter of North Prairie. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her sister, Carole (Robert) Fabry of Oak Creek, her brother, Greg (Margaret) Huennekens of Libertyville, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jerome and Ronald.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 State Road 59 Waukesha, WI 53189 from 12:30 PM until the funeral Mass begins at 2:30 PM all at the church. Fr. Patrick Heppe will preside.
