James “Jim” H. Otter, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at AngelsGrace Hospice surrounded by his family at the age of 82. He was born in Milwaukee the only child of Watson and Ruth (nee Hayden) Otter. Jim was a 1952 graduate of West Allis Hale High School where he played football, ran track, was on the stage crew and was President of the Polka Club. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1954 and on April 16, 1955 he married Betty Hertzberg. He worked for Allis Chalmers, Midwest Service Equipment, Harley Davidson and Amron before starting his own company called B-Jay Distributors in 1976 where he was still working. He was a member and Past-President of the New Berlin Rotary Club, enjoyed volunteering for “AA” with his wife and being a hospice volunteer. Jim loved to play golf, but most of all he loved being with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Betty of Waukesha and their children, Terri (David) Johnson of Waukesha, Sue (Mike) Burtch of Wausau, Sandi (Fredo) Hernandez of Waukesha, Pat (Mike) Smith of Waukesha and Greg (Beatrice) Otter of Elkhorn. He was the dear grandfather of Heather (David) Henning of Menomonee Falls, Adam (Katie) Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Amanda (Daniel) DeMerit of Waukesha, Megan Johnson of Waukesha, Christopher (Krista) Burtch of Madison, Matthew Burtch of Wausau, Tanya (Tony) Balisterri of Waukesha, Jason Hernandez of Hawaii, Brianna and Mikayla Smith of Waukesha and Kaisley, Sethan, Rylan and Gavin Otter of Elkhorn and great-grandfather of Jonathan and Grace Henning, Evelyn Johnson and Payton and Chase Balisterri. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4:00PM until the time of the 7:00PM funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha.
