James Edward Probst Sr. (Jim) entered eternal life on May 2, 2024, at the age of 82. He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather. Jim’s journey was one of unwavering compassion and generosity. In 1967, Jim found his soulmate Celine (Szulgit). Together they raised James, Cheryl (Ron Simon), and Tim. The joy and happiness their nine grandchildren - Natalie, Carolyn, Brianna, Sarah, Sydney, Charlie, Maggie, Addy, and Grant - brought into Jim’s life was immeasurable. Jim was proud of his Milwaukee upbringing. Jim was a 35-year, second generation employee of Pabst Brewing Company where his contributions did not go unnoticed.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman and gifted craftsman with a great sense of humor. His specialty was outdoor lawn furniture. Jim’s greatest joy was attending any and all of his grandchildren’s sporting events as well as musicals and band performances.
Sharing his experiences, life lessons, and stories with his family was a source of joy for him. How he lived his life was the greatest gift we could have received. Jim’s absence will be deeply felt, and his compassion, quick wit, impeccable style, boundless generosity, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and uplift his beloved family and friends.
Jim’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life, strive for excellence, and cherish the precious moments. His most famous catchphrase, “It is better to give than receive”, is a daily reminder of his enduring presence. May his soul find eternal rest and peace.
