James "Jim" Allen Staffeldt

June 30, 1946 — September 17, 2017

James “Jim” A. Staffeldt of Oconomowoc died on Sunday, September 17, 2017 with his family at his bedside. He was born in Waukesha on June 30, 1946, the son of Amford and Janet (nee Dexter) Staffeldt. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Waukesha South High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UW-Milwaukee. He later went on to earn his MBA in International Finance from UW-Whitewater. On June 8, 1968, he married his wife, Marjorie Howell. Jim’s quiet sense of humor afforded them many laughs over the years, and they were a wonderful team throughout their marriage. Jim had a lifelong and successful career at Waukesha Engine Division of Dresser Industries, retiring as the Chief Financial Officer in 2005. His work fostered friendships around the globe, as he traveled to places like Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Jim had many passions in his life. He volunteered his time at the Waukesha Optimist Club and also found great joy in promoting adult literacy in the Waukesha area. He was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. He took on new challenges, like earning his pilot license and joining a flying club. Jim enjoyed other hobbies, such as fishing, spending time on the lake, playing or watching golf. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan, but also enjoyed years of cheering on his children and grandchildren in their own sporting activities. Jim created lasting memories that will be cherished by his friends and family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren, through their everyday moments, special holidays and their travels together. His greatest love and passion was his family.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marjorie of Oconomowoc, and their daughters, Sara (Adam Newman) Staffeldt Newman of Wauwatosa and Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Ed) McCright of Delafield. He was the proud “Taid” (grandfather) of Braeden and Madeleine Newman and Mavia, Henry and Patrick McCright. He is further survived by his sisters Patty (the late Jim) Sobrofski of Dousman and Sally (Warren) Staffeldt-Mollenhauer of Wauwatosa, his brother Brian (Sandy) Staffeldt of Waukesha along with many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Amford, his mother Janet and step-father George Murdock and his sister Kathy and brother-in-law Ron Marish.
