Janice Renee McCollow (Voeks) age 71, passed away Feb. 27, 2024 as a result of complications caused by Erdheim Chester Disease, a rare Blood Cancer.
Over the last four months, as her health deteriorated, Janice demonstrated an incredible ability to tolerate pain and discomfort. She was willing to take disappointment and bad news without self-pity. Amazingly, even at the worst of times, she kept her sense of humor.
Janice is survived by her husband of 45 years Mark McCollow, daughters Dr. Lindsey (Dr. Kent) Davies of Mukwonago, Keeley (Chris) Diebel of Hudson, and son Bo McCollow of Bay View. Also, six grandchildren, Nellie, Navy, Lennon, Watson Davies, as well as Lacey and Briggs Diebel. She also is survived by her brothers Dean (Karen) Voeks of Merrimac, Glen (Vicki) Voeks of Whitehall, MT, sisters Lisa (Reid) Chase of Wales and Shelly (Randy) Newman of Baraboo. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Elroy and Maxine Voeks of Baraboo.
Janice graduated from Baraboo High School in 1970, and received a degree as a medical secretary from Madison Area Technical College. She and her husband relocated to Minneapolis in 1976 where she passed the SEC exam to become a licensed Stock Broker. Later, they lived and worked in Kansas City for six years. They relocated to Waukesha WI in 1987, where she dedicated herself to raising their three children and involving herself in multiple school activities.
Like her husband, Janice was a lifelong fan of all Wisconsin Sports, especially the Packers and Badgers. Two of her favorite memories were being in attendance to watch the Badgers win the 1994 Rose Bowl (On Wisconsin!) as well as seeing the Packers win the 1997 Super Bowl (Go Pack Go!).
Janice wanted to thank her family and friends for all of the kindness she was extended during her illness. She also wanted to thank the medical professionals who worked so compassionately to address the complications she was forced to deal with.
Janice requested, in lieu of cards or flowers, she be memorialized by asking everyone to perform a “random act of kindness” in her honor.
A celebration of life event is being planned for some time in the future.
