Jean Louise (nee Brueggeman) Tans, of Waukesha, was called to eternal life on September 29, 2023 at age 80. She was born in Milwaukee on March 13, 1943 to Walter and Lydia (nee Knoll) Brueggeman. Jean was a longtime member of St Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was active making baby quilts, in the bell choir and the book club for many years. She worked as a registered nurse for Waukesha Pediatric Associates, where she enjoyed many years of dedicated service. Jean loved going to Door County, where she and Jack had a home for 20 years.
She survived by her loving husband of 59 years, John “Jack” Tans and their three children, Julie (Brian) Tans-Kersten, Michael (Gabrielle) Tans, Peter (Allison) Tans and grandchildren Marjorie, Nathan, Scarlet and Sierra. She is further survived by her dear sister, Joyce (David) Ruck, brother-in-law, William (Nancy) Tans, nieces and nephews, Christopher (Tanya) Ruck, Jonathan (Katrin) Ruck, Matthew “Max” (Sara) Tans, Patricia (Greg) Blando, Scott Huebner, Sue (Paul) Vermey, Peggy (Doug) Ewing and Walter Huebner, her cousins, Eugene (Nancy) Brueggeman and Steve Brueggeman and her beloved kitty, Lulu. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judy Huebner, brothers-in-law Ken Huebner and James Tans and niece-in-law Wendi Huebner.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:30 AM until the time of the 12:00 PM service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s name are appreciated to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
