Joan T. Horak of Waukesha died on Monday, June 4, 2018 following a brief illness. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1945 to George and Margaret (nee Fennesay) Gockstetter. After graduating high school Joan married Robert Horak, Jr. on May 30, 1969. She worked for RTE Corporation for many years in data entry.
On September 22, 2005, her precious Bob “Skip” passed away. She is survived by her sister, Carol (Mike) Yukich of Homewood, IL; a sister-in-law Donna Mills of Tennessee; nieces and nephews: Tracy, Mike, Kathleen, Tommy and Mark Yukich and Daniel Mills. She is further survived by Wally Milbrath of Waukesha and his daughter Jessica, who were great friends to Joan and Bob for many years. Joan will also miss her very special friends at the Silvernail Senior Apartment Center, especially the 2 Joyce’s, Sally, Michelle and of course Mr. E. One of Joan’s greatest pleasures was helping the managers of the Silvernail Apartment Center. Joan was a lifetime member of the Waukesha Deaf Organization (WDO), International Catholic Association for the Deaf and the Wisconsin Association for the Deaf. Joan will miss her many great deaf friends, including Mary Charlene Blandford, Margaret Calteaux, Clark Christensen, Bob & Veles Graf, Karen & Bob Kamasky, Terri Matenaer and Judy Wallace.
A special thank you to Dr. Krasovich for the many years of helping Joan, but most of all for being a great friend.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10:30 AM until the 12:00 Noon funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 North East Ave Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Christopher Klusman and Rev. Bill Key will officiate. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery will follow the mass.
