Joanne Gygax, 71, of the Town of Waukesha, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Summit Lake, WI on March 23, 1935 to Henry and Mildred (nee: Durler) Rasmussen. On August 13, 1960 she married Larry Gygax at First Baptist Church in Waukesha. She taught for many years at Lowell and West Allis Elementary Schools. She was a voracious reader, avid sewer and machine quilter. She cherished her cats. She volunteered at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and First Baptist Church. Joanne was a dedicated grandmother and a meticulous housekeeper who lived life with a passion. She will be missed by her husband Larry of the Town of Waukesha, children Karen (Hugo) Gygax-Rodriguez of Ripon and David Gygax of Waukesha. Loving grandmother of David, Derek and Andrew Rodriguez and David Gygax II. She is further survived by her brother Robert (Ann) Rasmussen of Antigo, sister-in-law Dorothy Rusmussen of Antigo, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Doris Bergman and brother Wayne Rasmussen. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 247 Wisconsin Avenue. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday, March 10th from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Rev. Jim Carlson officiating. A private committal will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Waukesha Food Pantry, 215 W. North St., Waukesha 53188.
