John A. Rankin

John A. Rankin, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. He was born in Milwaukee on December 27, 1925 the son of John and Emma (nee Raschke) Rankin. He was a graduate of Juneau High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in business and master’s degree in psychology from UW-Milwaukee and went on to receive his PHd in psychology from Clayton University. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and on June 28, 1952 he married Geraldine Falk in Milwaukee. John worked as a manager for Wisconsin Bell for many years. He was a member of the Waukesha Rotary Club, the Jaycees, and St. John Neumann Catholic Church. John enjoyed volunteering with the Boy Scouts of American Potawatomi Council but most of all he loved being with his family.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine of Waukesha and their children, Penney (Jim) Schulz of Milwaukee, John (Linda) Rankin of Elm Grove, Sharon (Steve) Cook of Waukesha and Jim (Jennifer) Rankin of Portland, OR. He was the dear grandfather of Jason (Rachel) Schulz, Chrissy (Carlos) Rutherford, Amy Rankin, Michael Rankin, Joe Cook, David Cook, Kaili Cook, Nathan Rankin and Margaret Rose Rankin and great-grandfather of Lilah and Ryan Schulz and Audrianna Rutherford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Delores (Roland “Joe) Jensen.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, in Franklin, WI. Memorials are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
