John C. Atkinson

John C. Atkinson a lifelong Waukesha resident passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born in Waukesha on June 14, 1933 the son of Leslie “Les” and Hazel (nee Vrooman) Atkinson. John was a 1951 graduate of Waukesha High School and 1955 graduate of Carroll College where he was a member of the Beta Pi Epsilon Fraternity. John was a great athlete, having played volleyball, football and baseball through high school and college. On August 13, 1955 he married his beloved wife Nancy (nee Stessl) Atkinson in Eagle and together they were members of St. Mary Catholic Church. John was the proud president and owner of Wolter Brothers Builders for many years.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy of Waukesha and their daughters, Mari Atkinson of Seattle, WA, Cathy Atkinson of Waukesha and Jennifer (David) LaMack of Waukesha. He was the proud grandfather of Jessica Powers, Josiah John Powers and Jonathan LaMack. He is further survived by nieces Leslie (Jim) Zuelsdorf, Nanette (Ben) Loucks, Renee (Tim) Harris, and Micki (Gary) Metzger, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Kathryn “Katie” Price.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until time of the 12:30 p.m. memorial Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Private family interment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. Memorials in John’s name are appreciated to Katie’s Kloset, 404 Wilmont Dr. Suite D, Waukesha, WI 53189 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
