John Patrick Craney of Milwaukee passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the age of 47. He was born in Mankato, MN on April 29, 1970 the son of Patrick and Elizabeth (nee Shaw) Craney. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy serving in Africa and the Middle East during Desert Storm. He worked as a firefighter in Milwaukee for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed working with electronics and working his side job in custom home theaters. John was proud of his father and together they enjoyed camping, going to the EAA and Road America. Most of all, his daughter Zara Lilly was his pride and joy and he loved her very much.
He will be forever missed by his beloved daughter Zara Lilly Erickson-Craney (14), his loving parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Craney of Waukesha and his cherished sisters, Jennifer (Patrick) Conaway of Newark, TX and Sarah (Brett) Jahnke of Bayview. He is further survived by his aunt Cecelia (Steven Schept) Shaw along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 12 noon until the time of the 2:00 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 E. Main Street, Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend David Simmons will preside. Full military honors will follow the service in honor of John’s service to his country. Private interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family to be used towards his daughter’s education.
