John “Dale” Burnell, of Waukesha, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the age of 79. He was born on May 12, 1935 the son of John and Dorothy (nee Edwards) Burnell. He proudly served his country in the 128th Air National Guard for 11 years. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, genealogy and watching the Green Bay Packers. He was a longtime member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 30 years, Barbara (nee Baumgard) of Waukesha, his children, Julie (Andy) Mitchell of Mukwonago, Keri Burnell of Waukesha, Connie (David) Marose of the town of Waukesha and Mike (Toni) Zimmerman of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the dear grandfather of Bethany, Lauren and Erin Mitchell, Jesse Burnell and Hannah, Emily and Maggie Marose. He is further survived by his sister Marlene (Everett) Williams of Waukesha along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeraldine Welhouse Burnell and his parents.
A private family burial was held at North Prairie Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1:00PM until 4:00PM at Wern Valley, S36 W29657 Wern Way, Waukesha, WI 53189. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to HAWS, 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188 or to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, W287 S3159 Bethesda Church Road, Waukesha, WI 53189.
