John Hayden Hoff of Waukesha passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the age of 102. He was born in Delavan, Wisconsin to John H. Hoff Sr. and Lucille Hayden Hoff in 1921. John graduated from Waukesha High School in 1940. He interrupted his education at Carroll College to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He spent over two years in the South Pacific, mainly in New Guinea, where he was a Sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps supplying the United States Air Force. When John returned from the War, he completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Carroll College. He then completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School. He practiced law in the City of Waukesha for over 50 years. His favorite hobby was the study and analysis of companies and whether they were prudent investments.
He is survived by two children, Susan J. Hoff (Dr. Eric Johnson) of San Diego, CA and David J. Hoff (Patricia S. Hoff) of Brookfield; son-in-law Paul Maraijko; four grandchildren, Rebecca Maraijko of Milwaukee; and Simone, Monique and Mitchell Hoff of Brookfield. All of his grandchildren brought him great joy.
Also survived by his nieces and nephews, Sarah Hall; James Hoff; Libby Briscoe; Jon Simon and James Simon.
He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Simon Hoff; his daughter Ann E. Maraijko; grandson Nicholas Maraijko; niece Jennifer Mattson; brother Hubert (Dorothy) Hoff; sister Harriet Hoff; and brother-in-law Robert (Wanda) Simon.
Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be made to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation (https://franklloydwright.org/support/).
