John "Jack" Snyder

John W. “Jack” Snyder, of New Berlin, was born Eternal life on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.  He was born on May 11, 1924 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Kenneth Irvin and Pauline Cecilia (nee Hynes) Snyder.  He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII.  Jack was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School and of Carroll College where he received a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.  He worked for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as their promotions manager until his retirement in 1984.  Following the death of his first wife Joan (nee Kreitzer) in 1996, he married Barbara Swanson (nee Waters) on December 25, 2004.  Jack was a member of the Toastmasters and a former member of St. Luke’s Church in New Berlin and a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha for the past five years.    He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara of New Berlin, his children: Anne (Dave) Domach of Waukesha, Cathy (Todd) Wojciuk of Waukesha, Veronica “Vicki” Snyder of Waukesha, and Chris (Jim) Turner of Orlando, FL, his grandchildren: Nick and Sam Domach, Chuck and John Wojciuk, and Leah, Luke and Aaron Turner.  He is further survived by his sister Pat (Chuck) Herro and brother Harry “Spike” (Rosemary) Snyder both of Oconomowoc along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his first wife, Joan, he is preceded in death by his brothers Pete and Mike and his parents.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 9:00AM until the 12:00 Noon funeral Mass all at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Father Brian Mason will preside.  Full military honors will follow the Mass at church.
