Joseph H. Brunner of Waukesha passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born in New Berlin on July 11, 1930 the son of Francis and Frances (nee Sanders) Brunner. On June 30, 1951, he married Marlene Lasky; she preceded him in death on January 18, 2018. As a young man, Joe worked for the School Sisters of Notre Dame and retired from Rexnord and ASEA Robotics (ABB). His priorities in life were God and his family. He enjoyed working in his garden, sharing his knowledge of mechanics with all and loved telling stories of his childhood. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he made many decorations for the church seasons.
He is loved and will be sadly missed. He was the loving father of the late Joseph F. Brunner. Survived by his devoted children, Kathleen (Dennis) Arquette, John (Laurie) Brunner, Janet (Delbert) Stubbs, Linda (Jim) Janecke, Marianne Lenhardt and daughter-in-law Linda Brunner. Dear grandfather of Timothy (Amy) Arquette, Jeremy (Claudia) Anders, Patrick (Rae) Janecke, Jennifer Brunner, Kristine Louden, Nicholas (Barb) Anders, Melissa (Matthew) Raasch, Katherine (Michael) Volz, Aaron Brunner, Lindsey Brunner, Elizabeth (Brad) Lijewski, Cody Lenhardt and Garret Lenhardt and beloved great-grandfather of Blade Janecke, Joseph Anders, Alexia Brunner, Damen Gardipee, Eleanor Anders, Emilia Anders, Natas Harmon, Dominic Janecke, Theresa Janecke, Veronica Janecke and baby Volz due in April. He is further survived by his brothers John Brunner, Charles Brunner, Richard Brunner, William Brunner and sisters Ruth Sedlacek and Barbara Levan along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Marlene and his son Joseph, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Gimler, Emma Buse, Elizabeth “Pat” Petrie, Anna Egofske and infant brother Frank.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Funeral Mass all at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave. in Waukesha. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
