Joseph “Joe” F. Fleming, Jr., of Waukesha, died on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 94 years. He was born in the town of Aaron on June 23, 1919 the son of Joseph and Genevieve (nee Burg) Fleming, Sr. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Corp for 5 years. On October 25, 1947 he married Hazel Pronold; she preceded him in death on April 28, 2003. Joseph worked for many years for Willard Allen Lumber Company and for Sears. Joseph was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Genesee Depot and a member of the Genesee Depot VFW Post #5270. He enjoyed volunteering at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and served on the town of Genesee Park Board. He was a big fan of the Genesee Twins baseball team. Joseph loved to fish and enjoyed his fishing trips to Minocqua, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his son James (Sue) Fleming of Genesee Depot, his grandchildren Sean (Renee) Fleming of Delafield and Shannon (Arturo) Suarez of Waukesha, and his great-grandchildren Clarissa, Hannah, Matthew, Hope, Spencer, Eagan and Kaley. He is further survived by his sister Mary Ellen (the late Jim) Connell of Palmyra, his sister-in-law Vivian Fleming of Stonebank along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Hazel, he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Fleming.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2:30PM until the time of the 4:30PM funeral Mass all held at St. Paul Catholic Church S38 W31602 Hwy D (Corner of Hwy 83 & D), Genesee Depot, WI 53127. Reverend Mark Molling will preside. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Monday, January 13th at 10:00AM at St. Paul Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery (corner of Snowdon Rd. & Sunset Dr.). If desired, memorials are appreciated to St. Paul Catholic Church (address above).
