Joyce E. Plehn of Waukesha, formerly of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 89. She was born in Ionia, Michigan on April 19, 1928 the daughter of Edward and Emma (nee Orlaski) Miller. On June 21, 1947 she married Raymond Plehn; he preceded her in death on February 25, 2009. Joyce was an active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Women’s Club. She worked at Hadfield Elementary School as a reading aid from 1969 until 1975 and then worked at Butler Middle School until her retirement in 1993.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Susan (Robert) Haviland of Lake Mills, Kerry (Brenda) Plehn of Waukesha and Sally (Marty) Dzelzkalns of Hartland. She was the dear grandmother of Amber Dzelzkalns of Hartland, Brian (Sarah) Plehn of Oak Creek and Brad (Caty) Plehn of Severn, Maryland and great-grandmother of Killian and Sullivan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn and Nancy, brother Edward, her parents and step-mother Ruth Miller (nee Wolf).
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 20th at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Ave., Waukesha 53186 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Lawrence Gates will preside. Private burial will be held on Monday at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials in Joyce’s name are appreciated to Trinity Ev.
