Judith “Judy” Ann Wanserski, of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, at the age of 80, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on December 16, 1942, to Melvin and Helen Koeppen in Janesville, Wisconsin and grew up in Walworth, Wisconsin. Judy graduated from Walworth High School in 1960, and from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation from college, she taught business classes at Edgar High School in Edgar, Wisconsin, where she met her future husband, Joe. Judy and Joe married in June, 1965, and began an inspirational lifetime of love together.
Judy was a devoted wife and dedicated her life to being an exceptional mother. Family came first, and she always provided a warm and loving home. She was kind, compassionate, patient, and selfless with a joyful spirit and love of life. She also had a quick wit and great sense of humor, a necessity in our family! Judy cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors, always being a gracious host – from holiday gatherings to a casual backyard picnic by the pool. Judy was also passionate about baking, gardening, and her beautiful roses. Earlier in life, she loved aerobics, bowling, and wonderful trips and activities with her Meadowbrook Ladies Club. Over the years, Joe and Judy spent many winters snow birding in Florida, Arizona, Texas, and California and they treasured all the wonderful time with their siblings, friends, children and grandchildren.
Judy’s greatest loves were her husband of 58 years, Joe; her daughters – Jodi (Dan) Young, Cathy (Mark Huang) Wanserski, and Sara (Scott) Nelson; and her beloved grandchildren – Justin (Kelly), Jordyn, and Jaden Young, and Spencer and Sadie Nelson. She was the dearest sister of Steve (Tess) Koeppen and Richard (Becky) Koeppen, and was pre-deceased by her loving sister Linda (James) Wanserski. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in-law – Don (Judy) Wanserski, Henry (Cindy) Wanserski, David (Lorri) Wanserski, Virginia (Paul) Gottschalk, Marie Shilka, Carol (Al) Dreschler, and Ann (Steve) Robison, as well as many nieces, nephews, and treasured relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Helen Koeppen, parents’ in-law, Henry and Pauline Wanserski, sister-in-law Elaine Ashenbrenner and brother-in-law Jim Shilka.
Judy’s passing leaves an emptiness that will be hard to fill and she will be dearly missed. We will cherish all the wonderful memories and the legacy she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held for Judy on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 9:00am until 11:00am followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 11am at St. Anthony’s on the Lake Catholic Church, W280 N2101 Prospect Avenue, Pewaukee, WI 53072.
