It is with great sadness that we share with you the peaceful passing of our mother Julie Herman and grandmother “Gran” on Tuesday October 27, 2015. She was surrounded by her loved ones in Brookfield, WI.

Julie was a native of Sturgeon Bay Door County, WI where as a young child she learned tap and ballet dancing. Julie had the natural ability to dance, and teaching the art of tap and ballet dancing would become her profession. She taught many students throughout Door County, Brown County and Marinette Counties. Julie was well known for her dance expertise through her dance studios and Green Bay television program. She met and married Douglas Jones in 1957 until his passing in 1974. They had three children Jenny, Eric, and Cassie and resided on the bay in Menominee, MI where they enjoyed sailing, skiing, traveling, entertaining and raising their family. Jules met and married George Herman in 1987 shortly after moving to Tequesta, FL. They enjoyed spending winters in south Florida and spending beautiful Michigan summers at the family log home “camp” Woodland just north of Menominee, MI. Jules introduced George to the fun world of sailing and they sailed on Green Bay on their yacht Windborne (III). George introduced Julie to his love of golf and they enjoyed golfing frequently with friends and family at various courses on their travels including their home club Turtle Creek in Tequesta. Julie taught her grandsons the love of the sport. In her late 70’s after George passed, Jules returned to teaching tap dance. Many ladies enjoyed her classes. Jules was very physically active all her life, she taught her children how to X-country ski and downhill ski and the importance of keeping physically fit. She was not shy about her disdain for the unfit. She also enjoyed playing bridge with the ladies at the condo in Florida. Jules was a member of and was very active with St Jude Catholic Church Tequesta, Florida. For many years Julie attended daily Catholic mass and enjoyed serving as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist of communion. Julie was passionate about giving back to those in need, she was generous and always provided where she could. She never denied helping those she loved or those in need. Julie taught her children and grandchildren to importance of giving and the value of gratefulness. Our mother is well known for her tremendously positive outlook on life and will be long remembered for her humorous “Julie’ism” phrases. At just 5 feet tall she could easily entertain those with her lively and humorously commanding way. She taught many to roll with the punches, make the best of the situation and to accept God’s will. Julie had a very strong Christian faith, incredibly strong will, admirable resilience, and fantastic sense of humor. Julie will be missed by her family and many friends in Tequesta FL, Menominee, Green Bay, and Door County. We are very blessed to have had Julie Jones Herman as a mother, grandmother and friend. Thank you mom, we Love You
