June London Buskel passed away peacefully at her Brookfield home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Jack James and Florence Dale (nee Crutchfield) London on June 20, 1941. June graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1959 then attended Oklahoma State University. At OSU, she was set up on a blind date with her future husband by his sister.
She married her husband of over 60 years James “Jim” Buskel in Tulsa Oklahoma on May 28, 1960, and started their life together. June was a loving caring wife and mother to 4 children plus a second mom to many more. June worked as the Financial Secretary for Raleigh Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN and later as the Financial Administrator for 25 years at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI. She was a devoted member of both congregations for many years. While raising her children, June was an active parent volunteer supporting their schools and various activities. She touched many lives as a volunteer youth advisor with Jim for six years at Raleigh Presbyterian. June was a talented painter and an avid bridge player, who loved her flower gardens and rocks.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Buskel; children, Lori (Bret) Mundt, Cari Buskel Thompson (Tim Falvey), Jodi Buskel Ristau, and Jason Buskel (Eric Aprill); grandchildren, Stefan (Beth) Thompson, Christian (Julia) Mundt, Duncan Mundt, and Jordan Mundt; great-grandchildren, Beverly Thompson, and Anastasia Mundt; siblings and in-laws, Jack London, Dale Arthur London, Jeanne Woodell, Karen London, and Laura (John) Wilson. Further survived by her extended family, Penny Young, Terry (Tula) Morehead, Megan (Alex) Lagos, Holly (Scott) Reed, Andria Woodell, Gabe Quinn, Krissy (Kent) Crawford, Matt London, Ashley (Matt) Schmitt, Jolene Brown, Charlene Wilson, and Helene (Keith) Brown as well as cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. June is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Jessie Lillian Buskel (nee Fidler); father-in-law, Charles Alfred Buskel, Jr.; sister-in-law, Tess Lynette Buskel; brother-in-law, Edward Buskel, and various other family members.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 9 AM until the 11 AM memorial service with a luncheon following at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, WI 53186. June’s final resting place will be at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of June can be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for the Youth Fund or the Waukesha Food Pantry.
