June E. Fryatt (nee Shadewald) (nee Krause), of Waukesha died peacefully at Avalon Square on Friday, July 1, 2016 at age 98. She was born in Gotham in Richland County on June 14, 1918 the daughter of Frank and Mollie (nee Rohn) Shadewald. June graduated from Richland Center High School and later UW-Whitewater where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She taught high school for two years in Chadwick, IL. In 1941, she married Major John Krause at Randolph Field in San Antonio the day he received his wings. They had one son, John. Maj. Krause was killed in 1944 while piloting his B-29 over Tokyo. He was nominated for the Medal of Honor but ultimately was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. June then moved to Waukesha where she taught at Waukesha High School for 8 years. She married Attorney Harry Fryatt who adopted John. They later divorced. June was an active member of First United Methodist Church for 69 years; the Norma Craven Circle and the Waukesha Service Club. June was Vice President of the UW-Whitewater National Alumni Board. In addition to her career teaching, she was a real estate broker. June was a very active person and enjoyed her little cottage on Lake Beulah. She loved to golf, participating in golf leagues as long as she was able, enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and being active in many various organizations. Most of all, June cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son John (Janice) Fryatt of Waukesha, her three grandchildren, Christine (Tom) Kipp, Michael (Melissa) Fryatt and Courtney Fryatt, four great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hunter Addie and Daniel and Tristan Fryatt and one great-great-grandson Wesley Addie. She is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters, Archie and Harry Shadewald, Florence Putz, Carolyn Carter and Lillian Snyder.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gerald Berman, the nurses and staff of Avalon Square and Kindred Hospice for the extraordinary care they provided to June.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 6:00 p.m. funeral service at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Reverend Greta Hietpas will preside. Private burial will be held on Friday at Richland Center Cemetery. Memorials in June’s name are appreciated to First United Methodist Church.
