Karen M. Larson

Karen Minerva (Wilfer) Larson, 85, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 15, 2025. She was born in Milwaukee on October 11, 1939 to Edward and Minerva Lee (nee Bates) Wilfer. Karen married John Larson on August 22, 1959 and together they raised 5 children. They enjoyed camping and were longtime members of the New Berlin Campioneers Club. Their love of traveling and camping continued even after retirement. Karen was an active member of St Paul’s Catholic Church in Genesee Depot and Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin, where was a dedicated member of the choir, assisted in liturgy planning, volunteered with fish fry’s and was instrumental in the planning of church festivals. She enjoyed a good game of sheepshead and will be remembered for her smile and contagious laugh. 

Karen will be sadly missed by her children Jackie Larson, Peggy (the late Kevin) Williams, Martin Larson, Christopher (Marcia) Larson and Barbara Lloyd. She is the proud grandma of Kimberly (Dave) Williams-Schultz, Corey (Madeleine) Larson, Eric (Heather) Larson, John Lloyd, Leah (Ryan) Julius, Taylor Williams, AJ Larson, Bryce Larson and special great-grandma to Hanna Larson and Eleanor Larson. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Linda “Kelly” Olson and many nieces & nephews who will miss their Auntie Karna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Larson on August 29, 2004 and by other loving family- JoAnn Yaggie, Chuck & Darlis Wilfer, Gene & Jackie Wilfer, Bea (Larson) & Ed Smith, Lars Olson and Vern Sidie. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral Mass at St John Neumann Catholic Church 2400 W. State Road 59, Waukesha. Luncheon to follow Mass at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at Holy Apostles Cemetery, New Berlin.
