Kathryn T. “Kay” Cole Schroeder, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at LindenGrove Health Care Center surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 86. She was born in Chicago on December 8, 1922 the daughter of Leo and Bernadine (nee Schultze) Terry, who were well known Chicago theater and radio artists. Kay graduated in 1941 from the St. Scholastica High School in Chicago. She worked at the San Diego Naval Hospital in WWII for the American Red Cross taking compensation claims from the military in the South Pacific. She married Aloysius Cole on June 5, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Carl Schroeder on October 9, 1971 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2005. She worked at Hadfield Elementary School as the school secretary from 1968 until her retirement in 1983. Following retirement, she worked as an outside sales travel agent. Kay loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout China, Europe, the United Kingdom, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Kay was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha since 1946, was the past president of the Jaycettes, belonged to the Waukesha Service Club, was a Ladies Elk member since the 1950’s serving as president in the 1960’s. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Kay will always be remembered by her daughters: Diane (nee Cole) (Daniel) Pugh of Waukesha and Nancy (nee Cole) (Daniel) Johnson of Wonder Lake, IL, granddaughters: Christine (Peter) Marcks and their children Evan and Meredith Marcks of Waukesha, Amanda (Timothy) Hofmann and their sons Zackary and Gavin Hofmann of Waukesha, Bryn (David) Feyen of Waukesha, Jana Johnson (Adam) Scalettar and their daughter Karynn Johnson-Scalettar of Tempe, AZ and Stacie (Aaron) Henry and their son Thomas Henry of Lake Geneva. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husbands Aloysius and Carl, she is preceded in death by her brothers Leo Terry Jr, and Robert Terry, and her parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. Services continue on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the funeral home with prayers at 9:15AM followed by a procession to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI for the 10:00AM Funeral Mass. The Very Reverend James T. Volkert will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
