Kenneth “Ken” H. Brunette, of Waukesha, died peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 85. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on March 28, 1929 the son of Russell and Lorina (nee Richard) Brunette. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On April 17, 1948 he married Marlene Treiber in Lake Forest, Illinois. Ken worked for Allis Chalmers for many years as a testing technician. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Ken enjoyed playing drums in the 5Th Army Band and loved to play cribbage. He was a loving husband, inspirational father, an adored grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marlene of Waukesha and their children, Sandie (Jim) Hill, Kathy (the late Ken) Kahn, John (Linda) Brunette and Bill (Lori) Brunette. He was the dear grandfather of David Pindel, Tim (Angie) Pindel, Jackie (Todd) Connell, Chris (Melissa) Kahn, Jon (Kristin) Kahn, Katie (Brian) Zirbes, Bridget (Neil) Hernandez, Dustin Brunette and Angela Brunette and great-grandfather of Toby and Anna Hernandez, Maddie and Ian Connell and Maggie, Blake and Max Zirbes. He is further survived by his brothers, Richard Brunette, Charles (Joann) Brunette, Roger (Pauline) Brunette, Gary (Maggie) Brunette, David (Linda) Brunette, Danny (Mercedes) Brunette and Greg (Leona) Brunette, his sister Mary Ann (Floyd) Reid, his brothers-in-law Kenneth (Betty) Treiber, Gordon (Karen) Treiber and Donald (Phyllis) Treiber along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald and his sisters, Mary Lou Brunette and Carol O’Boyle.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 9:30AM until the time of the 11:00AM funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha, WI 53189. Father Curt Frederick will preside. Interment with full military honors will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:00AM at Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182. Please meet directly at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ken’s name are appreciated to St. John Neumann Catholic Church or to Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
