Kenneth G. Thiele

Kenneth “Ken” G. Thiele of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Virginia Health & Rehab at age 89. He was born on May 25, 1926 in Milwaukee the son of Roy and Mae (nee Welton) Thiele. He graduated from Washington High School in 1944 and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during WWII. He stayed in Nagoya, Japan to continue his Air Force duties as a civilian until 1948. On July 1, 1950 he married Dorothy Clasen in Milwaukee. Ken worked at the Falk Corporation until attending Milwaukee State Teachers College in 1949 and graduating from UW-Milwaukee in 1953. He went on to do graduate work at Whitewater and Madison. He taught at Johnson Elementary School in West Allis for 29 ½ years while also serving as assistant principal and later acting principal. He enjoyed working summers at Boys Club in Milwaukee and Johnson Services Co. Ken was a school board member for the Muskego School District and active in the Boy Scouts leadership. He spent many summers in Minnesota with his family where he enjoyed fishing. Ken loved to read, play cards with family and friends, and take pictures and videos of his family. He cherished the time spent with his family and special friends the Sewell, Thon and Caughey families in MN and Carol Garland in Waukesha.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy of Waukesha and their children, Richard (Irma) Thiele, Susan (Michael) Bohrer, Laura (Dan) Relyea, Joanne (Steve) Guendel, Bonnie (Kevin) Mattson, Patricia (John) Sharer and Robert (Jill) Thiele. He was the dear grandfather of 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Carol (John) Presslein, his brother Thomas (Loli) Thiele along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Michael.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Private burial will be Wednesday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
